In March 2025, Miltti celebrated International Women’s Month by highlighting the stories of three powerful immigrant women who embody courage, self-expression, and individuality.
Among them is Ami, a proud Miltti customer from Puerto Rico living in Orlando. Inspired by her incredible journey, we invited Ami to share her story — one of strength, passion, and unstoppable spirit.

A Journey That Goes Beyond Physical Movement
Ami is known in her Zumba community as Zin Ami La Jefa. At 36 years old, she has spent the last eight years dancing, choreographing, and teaching — often against odds that most people would never imagine.
Due to mobility limitations, Ami navigates the world from a wheelchair. And yet, her energy, expression, and impact are impossible to contain.
“Zumba completely changed my life,” she says in her video.
“The body dances, but the soul flies.”
Dance, Weight Loss and Healing
When Ami first joined Zumba, she was facing severe depression. She wasn’t an instructor yet — just a student searching for hope through movement.
Over the years, Zumba became more than exercise. It became her life force.
Ami has lost over 50 pounds, created more than 1,000 choreographies, and today inspires countless people with her dedication, creativity, and smile.

One of Ami’s favorite songs, Ella Puede by Nesty, carries a message she lives by:
“If she can, why can’t I?”
